The original themes of this workshop arose in the intersection of two fields, eigenvalue/singular value computation, and fast, accurate matrix computation. The scope has expanded, and the organizers encourage submissions for presentations or posters that relate to either of these two themes. A prize will be given for the best poster.
This is the ninth IWASEP workshop. Previous workshops were held in Split (1996), Penn State (1998), Hagen (2000), Split (2002), Hagen (2004), Penn State (2006), Dubrovnik (2008), and Berlin (2010). The reports on these workshops by Beresford Parlett were published in SIAM News (Oct 1996, Mar 1999, Jan 2001, Dec 2002, Nov 2004) and ILAS IMAGE (Fall 2008).

Linear Algebra and its Applications published three special issues related to the workshops: 309/1-3 (2000), 358 (2003), and part of 417/2-3 (2006). SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications published two special issues: Vol. 28/4 (2006) and Vol. 31/1 (2009).
The workshop will have similar format as its predecessors: there will be no parallel sessions; research presentations will be 30 to 40 minutes each, with sufficient time for discussions. Specially titled discussion/working groups and a poster session will also be organized.
